Math Videos
- Click HERE to go to YouTube and view instructional videos made by WCPSS Math teachers. These are based on our old curriculum (prior to Open Up Resources), but can be helpful to use for extra help/practice.
- Topics are arranged by grade level alphabetically (not by unit), so scroll down to get to the 7th/8th Grade sections if needed.
- The 7th Grade topics in Math 6+ can be found in the 7th Grade section that follows the 6th Grade videos.
- The 8th Grade topics in Math 6+/7+ can be found in the 8th Grade section that follows the 7th Grade videos.
Middle School Math Resources (for parents)
- Click HERE to go to the WCPSS resources page for MS Math. This is a one-stop shop for all things Math in Wake County. :) If you have any questions, let me know...
Khan Academy.org
- Khan Academy is even better than it was before! Illustrative Math (the people who wrote our curriculum) created a partnership with the folks at Khan Academy to provide additional practice and support for 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Math courses. Click HERE for the aligned materials! :)
- Please note that the aligned materials are based on the Open Up Resources curriculum. WCPSS has added/removed/changed units for some lessons (especially in the Math 6+ curriculum). If you are having trouble locating topics/lessons, email me and I will try to help you find what you're looking for. :)
- Also, the methods/strategies I am working with in class may not be exactly the same as those discussed in the Khan Academy videos- this is not a problem in any way. The beauty of Math is that there is almost always multiple ways to approach a problem. Unless the problem or directions specifically say to use one particular method/strategy (and this is incredibly rare), your student is free to use whatever method/strategy makes the most sense to them. All I ask is that they show all their work so I can follow their train of thought and know how to help them if necessary.
- You can also click HERE to go to the main Khan Academy website to access all the other awesome videos they have to offer- they have everything from Kindergarten up into college-level classes in virtually all subject area.
- This site is free, but you will need to set up an account to get access to everything (you can use your school Google account to register if you want.)
